Models for a Community Centre, to establish an attractive and safe meeting point in an
existing housing estate.
The Botplein residential center in Waterwijk estate, Almere, has got a bad reputation and image because of the state of maintenance and problems caused by people hanging around. The assignment was to design scenarios to start the discussion with all stakeholders about investments in real estate and the public space.
Four scenarios where chosen, focussing on radical direction of redevelopment, like a water square, towars along the canal and a small mall. All these scenarios gave the answer to a specific problem.
Calculations made clear that it was not profitable to go for a complete redevelopment process. Instead a strategy was chosen to do some modifications on the existing buildings and public space.
